Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is having a spectacular individual season. Unfotunately, his team is not. But Love and the Wolves are hoping Western Conference coaches will overlook the team’s struggles and vote him onto the All Star roster.
Love has put together a parody of cologne and perfume commercials to promote his selection. His new fragrance, called “NUMB#RS” (numbers), will be sent in sample packages to the 15 coaches thie week according to TwinCities.com.
Here is the ad:
Love is averaging 21.6 ppg, and an incredible 15.7 rpg, while shooting nearly 45% from three point range. In addition to leading the NBA in rebounding by a large margin, Love is also at the top of the league in double-doubles with 40.
His “NUMB#RS” absolutely qualify him for inclusion, but it’s not that simple. Beyond his team’s struggles, Love has to contend with a very deep pool of forwards out West. Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony have been voted the starters, but Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, LaMarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay, Luis Scola, and Lamar Odom have all had impressive seasons as well. Every one of those men plays for a team with a better record than the Timberwolves.
A minimum of two and maximum of four reserve forwards will be selected to the Western Conference roster. The final announcement will be made next Thursday, February 3rd.
