Kobe Bryant Leads All Star Balloting

Through the second set of returns, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant leads all players in balloting for the 2011 All Star Game. Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard is second in the league and first among Eastern Conference players in total votes.

Bryant has garnered 1,153,694 votes, 50% more than the Western Conference’s second leading vote-getter, Kevin Durant. Durant leads all Western forwards with 735,521 votes received.

Howard’s 988,572 votes are slightly ahead of Miami Heat stars LeBron James (969,459) and Dwyane Wade (938,402) in the East, but more than double those received by any other Eastern Conference center.

The top vote-getting center, and top two vote-getting guards and forwards in each conference are selected to start the All Star Game. The remaining roster is selected by votes from all 30 NBA head coaches.
